For a few years now my daughter Leah has been convinced that she was born to be a rockstar, probably from the craze of Hannah Montana (which thank God she grew out of) and because there are many musicians in our family and close circle of friends. She was even invited on stage a few years ago during a live show and strummed away on her baby pink guitar in front of a live audience. Since that day she was hooked and at least once a week puts on a show for Chris and I and all of her stuffed toys....let me tell you this kid definitely has the moves down. She just needed to learn how to actually play the music. We decided that this summer, being close to 8 years old, was a great time to start really learning to read music and play the guitar. This was such exciting news for her and she began planning her rock star outfit a week before her practice, fully equipped with bangles, pic-tails, and a guitar pick necklace. She walked into that small studio like she owned it and picked up on her first two notes of E and B so quickly. I am so proud of her and her eagerness to learn something new and hopefully continue following her dreams of becoming a "real" guitar player and singer--or at least our little rock star. Here are a few moments I captured during her lesson.....
